I should explain that, in Britain, Kevin is a name with somewhat nerdy connotations.
Some of the youths she satirised may now be lying under rubble in Afghanistan.
Why would sad bastards, in particular, get into this sort of thing? Well, there are two parts to it, the 'beliefs' part and the 'actions' part.
We sad bastards are attracted by fundamentalist beliefs because they offer formal structure (especially in the field of human interaction, and more especially in sex), and we have a pathological need for formal structure.
We sad bastards are well adapted to grotesque terrorist missions because our high degree of focus and our detachment from people around us render us immune from both the 'common sense' and the 'humanitarian' inhibitions which hold back most people from such actions.
You can't do much about our single-mindedness.
However, when we have our own logical structures for social interaction, which we can carry around in our heads, then we no longer, in our guts, feel the need to impose social structures on those around us.
