Consider how the convicted paedophile stands out from the other criminals around him. He is likely to be intelligent and middle class. He was probably a bit of a loner even before he was sent to a place where every thief feels morally entitled to beat him up. He may be the only convict in the jail who has at some time chosen the structured, theory-driven life of a minister of religion.
